Cine Experimental

Este taller está diseñado para quienes deseen explorar el lenguaje audiovisual a través de la práctica y la experimentación con materiales propios y encontrados. A lo largo del proceso, cada participante creará su propia pieza audiovisual mientras recorre de manera intensiva distintos recursos y técnicas vinculadas con el cine y el video. Trabajaremos con conceptos clave como la apropiación, intervención y resignificación, explorando el uso del archivo y el álbum familiar, las fronteras entre documental y ficción, la construcción sonora, la voz en off, el tono, el ritmo, el montaje y la repetición. A partir de la experimentación con estas herramientas técnicas, surgirá la reflexión sobre el significado de las imágenes y los sonidos que elegimos. ¿Qué transmitimos a través de ellos? ¿Qué parte de nuestra propia historia se filtra en el relato que construimos?

This workshop is dedicated to exploring the various possibilities and creative applications of photographic slide projection. We will approach the projector as a tool and the slide as a dynamic, non-static image. Participants will learn to modify both slides and projectors internally and externally, using different technological and DIY devices. The workshop focuses on hands-on experimentation, where participants will create and manipulate 35mm color slides and explore creative live projection techniques using multiple reel-based slide projectors. The day will conclude with a collaborative improvisation exercise.

Outline

1. Introduction to Theory and Practical Concepts

   • The Possibilities of the Static Image: Understanding the slide as a dynamic, non-static frame. Assembling the slide as a "catalog." Duration of an image: controlling time through projection.

   • The Potential of the Projector: Manipulating light and focus adjustments. Working with reels: understanding time and looping. Exploring original projector accessories: lenses, timers, dissolves, and programming.

   • DIY & Technological Modifications: Modifying projectors: possibilities with Arduino, electricity, 3D, and laser. Using multiple controls: synchronization, time-lapse, and shutter manipulation.

2. Slide Creation and Modification

   • Participants will create their own slides using different techniques such as printing, multiple exposures, bipack, and collage, experimenting with the effects of each method.

3. Moving Images and Projection Techniques

   • Advanced Slide Creation: Further experimentation with multiple exposures, bipack, and collage.

   • Projection Techniques:

     • Working with a single projector versus multiple projectors.

     • Techniques for creating double or multiple exposures in the image, assembly, and projection.

     • Using masks on film versus assembly, experimenting with filters, and expanding the limits of shutter control.

4. Collaborative Performance

   • Using the slide projector as an instrument for collective live improvisation.

   • Participants will create a shared experience through multiple slides and projectors, combining the techniques learned throughout the day.
