Laia Abril

España

Laia Abril (Barcelona, 1986) is a multidisciplinary artist focused on biopolitics and gender equality. Her acclaimed series A History of Misogyny, exhibited in over 25 countries, includes the books On Abortion (2018), On Rape (2021), and On Mass Hysteria (2024), winner of the Paris Photo Book of the Year Awards. Her work is part of collections such as Centre Pompidou, CNAP, FRAC, Fotomuseum Winterthur, Photo Elysée, MoCP Chicago, Museo Reina Sofia and MACBA. Among other recognitions, Abril has received the Paul Huf Award, Magnum Foundation Grant, Visionary Award, and the 2023 Spanish National Photography Prize.
