Justin Quinnell

United Kingdom

Justin Quinnell lectures at Falmouth University and is internationally recognised as a leading
expert in pinhole photography and camera obscura.

He has been teaching these practices around the world for more than 30 years, developing a distinctive approach that bridges experimentation, education and public engagement. His artistic work includes projects such as Mouthpiece, made with images taken from inside his mouth, Slow Light, consisting of six-month exposures, and Awfullogrammes.
He has worked as a pinhole photography consultant on Rian Johnson’s film The Brothers Bloom, starring Rachel Weisz and Mark Ruffalo and more recently ‘The Comeback King’ by Judd Apertow.

He has published three books, and is one of the founding directors of the Bristol community Darkrooms, in his hometown of Bristol.
