Daniel Hojnacki

United States

American visual artist and photographer born in 1989, whose practice focuses on experimental approaches to the camera apparatus and alternative printing techniques to explore materiality in the photographic process. His work investigates the experience of observing the world, recording the movement of the body and the natural environment through performative gestures and controlled chance occurrences. He received a BA from Columbia College Chicago and an MFA from the University of New Mexico in 2022. He is a recipient of the Penumbra Foundation Workspace Artist In Residence, the Patrick Nagatani Photography Scholarship and the Phyllis Muth Arts Award. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, the University of New Mexico Art Museum and the Chicago Cultural Center, and published in Aint Bad, Pamplemousse Magazine, Southwest Contemporary Magazine and Conveyor Studio Mercuria Ch.4. He lives and works in Chicago.
