Cara Coombe

Cara Coombe is a fine art photographer based in Brisbane, Australia. Coombe’s practice critically engages with representations of bodies and lived experience through a continuing practice of photographic self-portraiture. Her current MPhil practice-led research interrogates the possibilities of agentic self-portraiture through a post feminist framework. Employing an analogue photographic methodology, a medium that has historically erased women's contributions to its experimental practice, she asks whether the darkroom can become a site of feminist resistance, exposing the tensions between contemporary visibility and historical erasure.
